Making the Switch to Shampoo Bar

Part of the magic of shampoo bars (and organic products in general) is that they provide a uniquely personal experience. They may work wonders for one person… while for another… well, they may not be a perfect match. And that’s totally ok!

The shampoo bar experience is all about tuning in to your own personal body chemistry and listening to your body - especially if you’re a newbie to natural products and are making the “transition” for the first time!

When you first start using a shampoo bar you might notice a squeaky feeling in your hair. This is totally normal and is a sign that the natural ingredients are actually working their way through to the build up chemicals presented from bottled shampoos.

Although we have many customers who have no adjustment problems at all, funny feeling hair is not an uncommon issue, even after a few uses.

The transition period can range from a few days to a few weeks. The "funny hair" feeling happens most often when the soap residue does not completely rinse out of your hair. Be sure to work up a good lather and rinse, rinse, rinse.

As commercial detergent shampoos strip away the natural protective oils, your scalp produces more oil to compensate. Your scalp becomes conditioned to this vicious cycle of excess oil production.

As you transition to a natural shampoo bar, your scalp needs time to rebalance the scalp oil production. During this transition period, hair may feel extra greasy or heavy.

To Help Rinse Clean: Use an apple cider vinegar (ACV) rinse.

For Tangles: Try KÁDO Passionfruit Preconditioning Oil before shower, it will work wonders to help your hair to adapt.
